The First Amendment Coalition of Arizona has put out a call for entries for its inaugural S.T.A.R. Award. The acronym stands for “Supporting Transparency and Advocacy Recognition.”

Award nominations are open to any media, public officials, nonprofit organizations, advocacy groups, legal professionals, or any other person or entity in Arizona that has worked to defend or protect the principles of the First Amendment, with an emphasis on government transparency, and further the public’s right to know through advocacy or published works. All work must have been published or aired from June 1, 2014 to June 1, 2015. Self-nominations are welcome.

Deadline for submission entry form is Sept. 6, 2015. (See rules above.)

The contest is open only to First Amendment Coalition members, however, an individual membership of $50 ($25 for student submissions) can be purchased at the time the entry is submitted. (See entry form above.)
